From the plane to the car

1. 1Passport control. No visa for UK and EU passports; a queue is rare here, ten minutes when two or three flights land together.
2. 2Two baggage belts right after passport control.
3. 3A small arrivals hall: a café, a cash machine, car-hire desks and a SIM card counter. If you need a local SIM, get it here; in Paphos town the shops are far apart.
4. 4Outside: the taxi rank and the bus stop face the door, the car park where booked cars wait is a few minutes on foot.

Where the driver meets you

Message the driver on WhatsApp or Telegram as soon as you have your bags; you get his number before landing. He tells you where the car is parked, about five minutes from the exit, and in summer he is glad to come to you with a trolley. Prefer no phone? He stands by the exit from the arrivals hall with a sign carrying your name.

• ·Flight delayed? We track the flight number. The pickup moves with it, and waiting at the airport is free for 60 minutes from the actual landing.
• ·Luggage: the Mercedes E-Class takes two large and two small suitcases; the minivan six large. Surfboard, bike in a box or wheelchair: tell us in advance.
• ·Child seats are free, on request at booking.

Buses from Paphos Airport

Two routes, both local, cheap and without a change:

• ·Bus 612 to Paphos harbour via Kato Paphos and the hotel strip, about 35 minutes.
• ·Bus 613 to the Karavella bus station in the upper town, about 25 minutes.
• ·They run roughly hourly in daytime, less in the evening and hardly at all after ten at night. With a backpack and a midday landing it is an excellent option; with two suitcases, a child and a 23:40 landing, less so. To Limassol and the rest of the island there is no direct bus from the airport: a bus into town, then an intercity coach, two hours or more instead of 50 minutes.

Taxi rank or booked car

For the 11 km into Paphos itself, a metered taxi from the rank outside the door is usually cheaper than our €85, and there is no point hiding it. What you get from us on the short run: a driver waiting with a sign, a car chosen for the luggage, a child seat if you asked, and the same price at two in the morning.

From Limassol onwards the sums turn around. Sixty-five kilometres on the meter, the evening tariff after 20:30, an extra bag, and a total you learn at the end. A booked car is one number written on the booking, paid to the driver by card or cash, or in advance by link.

Hotels near Paphos Airport

There is no hotel at the airport, and the villages around it, Timi and Kouklia, are quiet places without real hotels. The nearest are in Geroskipou and Kato Paphos, 10 to 15 minutes away, in other words in town. For a 06:00 departure, a night at a hotel by the harbour and a 05:00 pickup is the usual arrangement.
