Why this route
The family favourite. Parents landing with toddlers get free child and booster seats fitted before pickup, and a chauffeur who helps with the bags rather than rushing off. Door-to-door means you’re dropped at the villa or hotel entrance, not a distant bus stop.
Why it is ten minutes longer than Ayia Napa
The motorway east from the airport is shared: you cover the first 50 km identically. The difference comes at the end. Ayia Napa is reached straight off the motorway; Protaras is on the far side of the Paralimni area, so the final approach runs on ordinary roads.
In quiet months that costs nothing. In August, with the resort full, it is where a five-minute delay appears. Fifty minutes is the honest planning figure; an hour in high season on a Saturday evening.
Fig Tree Bay, Pernera, Kapparis — one fare
"Protaras" covers a stretch of coast rather than a single town: Fig Tree Bay and the central strip, Pernera immediately north, Kapparis further north again, and Paralimni town inland. The fixed fare applies across all of it.
Give the exact address at booking. On this coast the difference between two hotels with similar names is a real fifteen-minute detour, and the driver would rather know before he leaves.
Landing late
Evening arrivals are common here, and it is where a pre-booked car stops being a convenience and becomes the plan. Public transport to the Paralimni side finishes in the evening. The rank at Larnaca works late, but the meter runs its evening tariff over 65 km — and Protaras is not the place to negotiate a fare at midnight with tired children.
With a booking none of that is a decision you make on the night: the car is assigned, the driver knows the address, and the fare is the same at 23:40 as at midday.
The return leg: what time to leave
Count backwards from departure: two hours for check-in and security on a European flight, 50 minutes of driving, twenty minutes for pickup and loading. That puts the car at your door about 3 hours 15 minutes before take-off — make it three and a half for an early morning flight, when the whole hotel checks out at once.
Early mornings are the fastest version of this road all year, and the fare is agreed before you travel.
